My Understanding Will Be Greater, My Pleasure Undoubtedly Enhanced was a performance of a poem, written by deconstructing and rearranging a book about the history of cigar manufacturing in America. Each stanza of the poem was printed on 8.5”x11” paper and sealed inside a #10 envelope. The envelope was ripped open with a pocket knife, the stanza was read, and in-between stanza’s I attempted to drown myself in a kiddie pool.
This piece was part of a performance series entitled Some Transliterations, curated by Patrick Kozal, which focused on artists’ attempts to bring the written word into the physical world.
